Colours

My original plan for this drawings was to have either 3 or 5 portraits of people where their heads glowed with certain colours, depending on their emotions: yellow for happiness, green for jealousy, purple for fear, blue for sadness and red for anger. This proved to be an unrealistic idea based on the time span I had to do it, but if I were to expand this idea, that is definitely something I would want to explore. Instead, I sketched a crowd of people and gave only 5 of them faces representing how some people show their emotions on their faces. The rest of the people don't have faces, representing how people hide their true feelings. For most of them, I coloured their heads in with the five colours. For a few, I left them blank, which can either display how some people don't have any feelings, or how sometimes it's not good for the emotions to be visible.

The placement of each emotions can tell a bit of a story. There is a red person behind two purple people - maybe they are scared because the one behind is so angry. The green people around a yellow person might be jealous of that person's good mood. The blue person next to the blank person might be sad that they can't see their emotions. Having the motions visible makes it easier to create stories, which the audience can interpret for themselves.
